CITY OF BURLINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA
A bond referendum will be held in the City of Burlington, North Carolina on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, regarding the approval of the following:
1. Not to exceed $47,000,000 PARKS ND RECREATION BONDS of said City. The proceeds of said Parks and Recreation Bonds would be used to acquire, construct and equip various parks and recreational facilities for said City, including, without limitation, expansion and renovation of the Paramount Theater, improvements to the Maynard Aquatics Center and construction of a new multi-sport complex in the western part of said City, and the acquisition of any related land, rights of way and equipment, all as set forth in the bond order adopted by the City Council of said City on July 16, 2024. If said Parks and Recreation Bonds are issued, taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds shall be levied upon all taxable property in the City of Burlington, North Carolina.
2. Not to exceed $21,500,000 STREET AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT BONDS of said City. The proceeds of said Street and Sidewalk Improvement Bonds would be used to acquire, construct and equip various street and sidewalk improvements for said City, including, without limitation, street resurfacing, sidewalk improvements and streetscape improvements, and the acquisition of any related land, rights of way and equipment, all as set forth in the bond order adopted by the City Council of said City on July 16, 2024. If said Street and Sidewalk Improvement Bonds are issued, taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds shall be levied upon all taxable property in the City of Burlington, North Carolina.
The referendum will be conducted in the areas of said City in Alamance County by the Alamance County Board of Elections. The last day for new registration of those not now registered to vote is Friday, October 11, 2024.
